I grew up in Cottonwood, across from what became the Cottonwood Mall. Our address was 4920 Highland Circle. We moved to this home when I was one year old and moved when I was in 9th Grade.

Hillview Elementary
My first school was on 4500 South and about 1000 East. It is no longer there. It was called Hillview Elementary.Try as I might, I can’t find a photo of this, now demolished, school.
Cottonwood Elementary
My second school was Cottonwood Elementary on Holladay Boulevard. It is still there
Olympus Junior High School
I went to Olympus Junior High School for my 7th and 8th grades. I’ll have to go by the new OJHS and put a photo here. I couldn’t find a good one on the web.
Here are a few things I remember about this school:
1. I took my first choir class from Don Ripplinger here
2. I took two years of Spanish here, but I bypassed all I learned in two years in the first day at the LTM (now MTC).
3. I had my first fist fight here. (it was more like a shoving match). But I got a lot of kids to come watch (until a teacher broke us up). I was fighting my best friend (haha!) over some stupid argument.
Bonneville Junior High School
After two years at Olympus Junior High School I was moved to the, not yet completed, Bonneville Junior High School. This school still stands. I only went there for about six months because my parents moved to Parkview Drive when I was in the 9th grade.
I remember having to ride with one of the teachers to this school after we moved in March to Parkview. My dad would drop me off at the teacher’s parents home (she was a very young teacher) and she gave me a ride the rest of the way to the school. She lived just off 3900 South just East of Highland Drive.
