To tell the truth (or not)

When I was a young boy, there was a program on TV, which has now been brought back called To Tell the Truth. This program had four celebrity panelists are presented with three contestants (the “team of challengers”, each an individual or pair) and must identify which is the “central character” whose unusual occupation or experience has been read aloud by the show’s moderator/host. When the panelists question the contestants, the two impostors may lie whereas the “central character” must tell the truth. The goal is for the imposters to fool the celebrety panelists and get them to guess that they are the “central character.” That was simply a game. It was known that two of the contestants were telling lies, but it was just a game.

There are a lot of imposters out there who are not telling the truth, and one of them, is the former President of the United States, Donald Trump. Just this last week I watched a news program discussing Donald’s attending a trial in which he is involved in New York City. He and his company are accused of inflating their ownership holding in order to obtain better loan rates.

During the hearing he accused the court of taking it out on him personally.

“We have a situation where I’m an innocent man,” Trump told the judge. “They should pay me for what I’ve gone through.”

“This is not consumer fraud,” Trump added. “This is no fraud. It is a fraud on me.”

After the hearing, he stood outside the courtroom saying what a travesty it was and how the Biden administration is out to get him, personally. This case has nothing to do with politics. It simply has to do with him overinflating the worth of his business, which is against the law. If he did so knowingly, his company should be fined for it. This violation has harmed others, particularly those who lend him money, based on false assumptions. That’s why it’s against the law.

This man is an imposter. We are the panelists. He is pretending to be the best candidate for President of the United States. He is not telling the truth. We should not select him as the truth teller. He isn’t to be the next President.
