These are some photos of our trip to Branson.
On December 1st (Friday) we left for Kansas City Missouri. Ken, Lois and Ron joined us on this trip. It was sponsored by Morris Murdock Travel with Tim Taggart as our tour guide.
After arriving in Kansas City, we boarded a bus for Branson. We stopped on our way at the home of the “throwed rolls” Lambert’s Cafe in Ozark Missouri. We had a lots of food, but very little time to eat.
After dinner we went to the Dutton Show. It was a fun family show. The family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was a fun and uplifting show.
The next day, Saturday we went to multiple shows.
The first was the Sander Family Christmas Show. This was a stage-only family . They were just actors. Lots of good fun and entertainment. Here are a couple of the actors that were in the show.
After the Sanders show we went to one of the best performances of the trip. This was the group called Six. They are six brothers that do all the sounds of the instruments with their voices. This was another great show. Lots of fun here too.
In the evening of Saturday we went to an illusionist Rick Thomas. He was okay. But once you’ve seen a disappearing act, you’ve seen them all. It was okay, but nothing more to write about.
On Sunday morning we went to Sacrament meeting in the Branson Ward. There were two busloads of people, so it was hard to tell how large the ward was.
In the evening we went to the Clay Cooper New Jersey Nights show. This was a fantastic show. I have a video on a DVD of the show that we saw. Maybe I’ll put sections of this on YouTube and put a link here. One of the things that Clay Cooper did was mingle with the audience during his show. It was amazing that he could remember the names of every person her met during the show. Here is a photo of him meeting someone.
On Monday we went to another show, also at the Clay Cooper theater. This time his son was the star. It was called Hot Rods and High Heels. While it was nice, it also was nothing spectacular. Most of the music was from the 50’s which is a little before my time.
We went to the Hughes Family Christmas Show on Monday night. It was fantastic.
The final show, on Monday night was the best of all the shows. It was very unique. It was put on by “SIghts and Sounds” and was called Queen Esther. Fantastic production about the Book of Esther from the Bible. It had about a 2000 seat (or more) theater and the stage wrapped 180 degrees around the audience. They had live horses, donkeys, camels. It was fantastic. At the end the actors didn’t even take a bow. It was dedicated to bringing people to Jesus. They had ministers come up fron and greet anyone that wanted to find out more.
On Tuesday morning we boarded the buses and headed for home, stopping by the Kansas City Temple for a few photos.
Here are the photos we took of this trip.
